Each Tesla Powerwall has 13.5kWh energy storage capacity with 100% depth of discharge. This is typically enough stored energy to power the average home throughout the night. You can add multiple Tesla Powerwalls for increased capacity on larger homes.

Independence from the Grid

Tesla Powerwall is a Home Battery Storage System which enables the homeowner to maximize their solar self-consumption and reduce their dependence on the electricity grid. The Tesla Powerwall Home Battery Storage System will charge up from your surplus solar power generated during the day and then discharge, powering your home at night. You have greater control over how you use your solar power and benefit from lower power bills.

With the Tesla Powerwall you always maintain your connection to the grid, so on days of heavy usage or poor weather the grid will take over so you are never left in the dark. However in times of grid power outages the Tesla Powerwall has the ability to provide backup power to your critical circuits

New or Retrofit

The Tesla Powerwall can either be installed with a new Solar PV System or added to any existing system. It does not matter what type of solar inverter has already been installed. In fact the Tesla Powerwall can be used even with no Solar PV installed by charging from the grid. This only makes sense for homeowners on a time of use tariff where the Tesla Powerwall can charge at off-peak times and discharge during peak times.
